I would like to embark on a journey to become a sports medicine therapist only because I like sports, but don't like playing them and I think I can move on from there.  It seems like it would be an interesting job I think it would make me more enthusiastic. It may give me that little push of motivation I need in order to feel confident in going into another medical career such as surgery or veterinary. I think it is great start for anyone who would want to delve into the medical profession  

Speech Pathologist

Duties and Responsibilities: prevent, asses, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults

Education: Master's degree and a license 

Reflection:

I would choose a career in this because I have known people with speech problems before. I think this would be great if it was offered in low-income areas. It would make speaking a bit easier on those who have speech problems or difficulty communicating. I feel like I would be more social if I were to get this career. Not only will I be helping people talk and communicate, but I may help them open up. I know it can be difficult talking to people with lisps and speech impediments, so I would like to have job in this medical profession.

Reflexologist

Reflection:

I think this is a fairly simple job and I would most likely choose this as a starting job opposed to something like working at McDonald's or Ross. I think for anyone looking for a job straight out of high school this would be a great choice.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Reflection

I would like to see a career being a registered nurse, not only because of the experience I may gain, but I wouldn't have to go to school for as long as any other medical profession. It seems like a fairly simple job with some decent pay. I believe I can enjoy this job. It seems like it would be a low-stress job, and I personally think that low-stress jobs are the thing for me. I think I would only have trouble supervising and attending to children for shots or blood withdrawals. I believe it would be a fascinating start in the medical career pathway. 

Recreation Therapist

Education: Bachelor's in therapeutic recreation or recreation with therapeutic concentration 

Reflection:

I wouldn't like this job because I think that I am an impatient person. I think I would tired and stressed because I couldn't deal handle waiting. I wouldn't want to make people uncomfortable or feel small because of my impatience. I don't feel as if this would be a right fit for me, as a worker. I don't think I'd like pushing people around or telling them what to do. I would much rather be a PE teacher.

Military Medical Career: Army Radiology Specialist

Education: High school diploma; must be enlisted in the US Army or National Guard

Reflection: I'd get career in the medical field starting as a Radiology Specialist, but I wouldn't make it my whole life. I think it would be a great stepping stone towards something better such as being a surgeon or veterinarian. I think as an entry level job it pays well enough to keep me afloat. Besides being a good entry-level job because of a salary, there is also the fact that I would be gaining a lot of experience about x-rays and most likely how to spot cancer. Along with the military experience, I think this is a great plan after high school if someone's mind isn't set on one particular career. 

Neonatologist

Duties and Responsibilities:  diagnosing illnesses, disorders infections or birth defects; caring for babies in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; managing nutrition in order to for growth and healing; oversee procedures which may cause harm to the mother or baby; providing continuous care for babies with life-threatening illnesses/situations; consult NICU doctors and baby's family about possible medical conditions; develop a care plan.

Education:  Bachelor's in chemistry/biology, Medical school, pediatric residency and neonatal fellowship, medical license 

As exciting and fulfilling as the job is, I wouldn't take it because it is an emotional and mental stress so great that I don't think I'll be able to handle it. Not just operating either, going to school for 14 more years will most likely drive me up a wall. If I was more positive and optimistic, I would take the job. I would definitely do it for the salary to have a nice and stable life, but then I'd be doing it for the wrong reasons, I prefer to go into a career I love rather than be greedy and choose a job solely for economic gain.

Psychologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Counseling:Lead group/individual counseling sessions, talking to people, enforcing positive mental health and personal growth

Developmental: observe behavioral changes, correct behavioral disorders

Forensic: work with law-enforcement personnel, assess competency, work with child witnesses and perform psychological evaluations

I believe this would be a great choice to start off  a medical career. It isn't an intense job. It isn't a very intense job either. I believe I would choose this asa starting point in my medical career. It is fairly simple job. 

Psychiatrist

I wouldn't choose this career because I don't believe in getting money to help people with their personal problems and/or offering my money for help with my problems. It seems like a very unethical and emotionless job. It seems like the type of job for greedy people. I'm not trying to make a quick buck, but I would like to help people. I think an alternative is need in this field. Something like free screenings or test or sessions. The way psychiatry is set as a business drives me away. I don't believe in taking people's money away, and this job is just that. As long as you seem sincere, you'll get a paycheck and it is immoral.I believe it is a very dishonest job to have.

Operating Room Technician 

Duties and Responsibilities:  Before surgery:Preparing and transporting patients

During surgery: Handing over sponges, needles and other various surgical instruments 

After surgery: apply bandages and dressings

Demand for this profession:  

Reflection:  I would like to start my medical career as an operating room technician because it seems like a fairly simple job to do. Besides learning things in school I can learn things more in depth about surgery and anesthetics. I feel like if I stay on track toward working in the medical field, this would be a great start. Not only because I could learn things in the operating room, but also I can decide whether or not I'd really like still be in the medical profession or not.

Nursing Home Administrator

Reflection:I would become a veterinarian because it was the first thing I ever dreamed if becoming when I was younger. I feel like I would have a much easier time in the medical field if I was treating animals rather than humans. I believe that it'll be much easier for me to chase (in terms of motivation) because I've been thinking about becoming one since I was little. 

Neonatologist

Reflection: I wouldn't want to be a neonatologist because I don't like to see young children, especially babies, in any sort of pain . I don't think I would be able to function correctly watching and taking care of infants whose very life, in some cases, "hangs by a thread". I don't think I have it in me to take care of sick babies.

Orthodontist

Reflection: I would not like to take this up as a career choice. Mostly because orthodontists have a bad reputation of ripping people off and messing with people's teeth. It's like a very repetitive job and an overwhelming one.

Oncologist (treats cancer patients)

Reflection: I would not like to be an oncologist because it seems like it would be very depressing and stressful job. It feels as if it would put an enormous weight on my shoulders. I wouldn’t like to be the one who has to save a person’s life or end one by a mistakes/ It seems like a high stakes job.

          I would not like a career in this field because, from experience, most people don’t really care what health educators say unless it benefits them. I would much rather help people in psychology, being a health educator doesn’t interest me.

Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s and a degree in Health Information Management\

Reflection: I wouldn’t like to be a healthcare administrator because it seems like a very depressing “going-nowhere” type of job. I think the workload and all the responsibilities would stress and depress me. I don’t feel content sitting in a chair all day and answering phones and being in charge of a budget.

Dermatologist

Reflection: I would love to be a dermatologist because I want to make a plan to give teens help with acne as well as adults. 

Dental Assistant

Reflection:  I wouldn’t like to be a dental assistant because I wouldn’t even like to become a dentist. I wouldn’t like to be either because I personally don’t like going to the dentist because feel as if they don’t like their job. Dentists seem like very rude or very rushed.
