Medical/health related volunteer opportunities in L.A. 

  • Volunteer 
    • Brotman Medical Center 
      • High school students and college students
      • Adults working or unemployed
      • Tasks would include: answering phones, filing, greeting patients, photocopying, offering books/magazines to patients.
      • Requirements for being a volunteer are as follows: an interview and a physical.
      • Wear a jacket/smock while on duty
    • Children's Hospital Los Angeles 
      • Duties include:assisting in hospital playrooms, playing board games, and reading to children
      • Requirements are: 
        • at least 15 years of age 
        • 18 years of age to work with patients directly
        • Good physical/mental health
        • able to communicate well in English
        • Willingness to volunteer 3-4 hour shifts for 8 consecutive weeks as patient/family escort
        • Completing Interview and Competency Test 
        • Health Clearance 
        • Take a volunteer assessment form 
    • Long Beach Memorial Medical Center
      • Online Application Available 
      • Summer Program for Teens available 
        • must be 15-17
        • GPA 3.0 or higher 
        • Attend Volunteer orientation and complete an application which requires immunization records and TB test 
      • Year Round Program for Teens 
        • must be 15-17
        • GPA 3.0 or higher 
        • Seasonal Flu Vaccination 
        • Must be able to commit at least 9 months and volunteer 3-8 hours per week
        • Attend Volunteer Orientation 
        • Complete application 
        • 2-step TB test
