Writing
I feel writing is a very difficult thing to do when people aren't creative or motivated. It takes a lot out of a person. It takes an emotional and mental toll on anyone who has trouble with it. For me, writing is just a time to either express myself or just clear my mind. At first it isn't an easy task to take part in. People tend to worry about judgement from others or they just "lock up" and get writer's block. I find it very easy to write, but I prefer writing on what I want like cars or dreams or something that is out of freewill on not on a lesson plan. I draw a lot of inspiration from media, movies, and music. Many of my personal life goals revolve around doing something with creative writing, whether that is writing a script or writing a book/novel or writing a story for a video game. I feel at peace when I write, it is my way of therapy and relaxation in a way.
Just like anyone else I come across distractions, and that just leads to me trailing off and going on a binge of my favorite TV shows; That's 70's, Mad Men or Futurama, but not all of my time trailing off is wasted. I gather more ideas and inspiration from these shows. Writing can make you, but it can also break you. It isn't a very hard thing to do, but the thing that pushes people away is lack of creativity or no motivation. Besides "researching", through Netflix, I watch/listen to many podcasts that get the creativity out of me. Writer's block however, remains the one thing that stops me from writing for hours without end. Everyone experiences it eventually, and it isn't the greatest feeling in the world. In fact, writer's block is just another way of saying that creativity has stopped and the brain is just going through some maintenance. That's how I see it anyway.
I find music and literature to be my greatest helpers when writing or journaling. It eases up some of my tenseness. Just hearing the awesome riffs and chords of some of my favorite musicians like Jimmy Page, Johnny Marr and Kurt Cobain deeply make me want to come up with music of my own or write. I believe writing is truly a wonderful thing if you let it be.
